To Build Wind Turbines or Not to Build

Posted on 17 August 2009

Wind farm blue skyI have been reading recently a lot about wind turbines. I just finished reading an article that was talking about wind farms in Texas. It was giving various facts about how tall they were and how much power they put out and I couldn’t help but wonder why we do not have more wind farms? They seem like such a viable means of sustainable energy and they have little impact on the areas around them.

Just before I had read that article I was looking at a site that was dedicated to the opposition of wind farms. I really cannot understand this. Why would you want to impede the progress of this incredible technology?

wind farm texasI have also heard lately that many people in Texas, although they support the idea of wind farms, they fight to keep them out of their skyline. I think that wind turbines look quite elegant. They have such an air of sophistication and progress. Why is it that Americans are unwilling to make the needed changes to incorporate these wind farms into their communities?

I think that wind energy is a blossoming new technology among several other great options that we should utilize to help steer our country towards sustained green living.
